Itinerary

We'll pick you up from your Fez location after breakfast. After that, we'll travel through the green plains of Sais to reach the Middle Atlas' cedar forests. We will stop for lunch in Midelt and then travel along the magnificent Ziz River, which is lined with fortified kasbahs that are adorned with palm trees.

We continue driving through the oasis to Erfoud, which takes us to Merzouga. After meeting your camel there, you'll go on a fun camel ride through the dunes with your guide. Don't miss the spectacular Merzouga desert sunsets. The experience includes an overnight stay at a camp in the desert, giving attendees a true taste of nomadic life. We'll serve dinner in sync with the Saharan rhythm.

Before breakfast, get up early to see the sunrise over the desert. Discover the Alawite dynasty and the fossils of Rissani, Morocco. Travel the Route of 1000 Kasbahs to Tinghir, stopping along the way to explore oases and ksours in the High Atlas. Take an hour to explore the Todgha River while taking in its stunning canyons and beauty. As you move through Berber villages, your guide will give you insights into their customs and way of life.

We'll have lunch at the beautiful Todgha Gorges. Visit one of the oldest kasbahs in the area and discover its history by taking a tour of the Dades Valley in the afternoon. Lastly, get dropped off for dinner and an overnight stay at your Dades hotel or guest house.

Continue to Kelaa Mgouna, a famous rose plantation, in the Rose Valley after having breakfast at your hotel. Discover how distilled rose water is blended to create unique rose scents by stopping by one of the cooperatives run by rose growers. Proceed towards Ouarzazate, dubbed the "door of the Sahara" and renowned for its cinematic settings, while passing by the kasbahs. After that, proceed to Kasbah Ait ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where you can explore the site's beauty and learn about its historical significance under the guidance of your tour guide.

Travel over the Tizi-n-Tichka pass in the Atlas Mountains in the afternoon, passing through Berber villages that have prospered for generations. We're expecting your arrival in Marrakech late afternoon.

Fantastic Trip

I am a little late in posting a review. We returned from this trip in early March, right when everything started to close down due to Covid-19. I can tell you that the memories of this trip have kept me going while sheltering in place. If you are thinking this might be the trip for you, please know that it is very fast paced with moving from place to place almost every night was quite challenging. The cycling itself was challenging based on ones fitness level. My husband completed every kilometer, while I did about three-quarters of the cycling. A lot of it depends on the heat, but for a female in my early 50s, I found it very doable. We had the most fabulous guide and crew. I cannot say enough of about our guide Son - he was absolutely amazing - taking care of all the details while we enjoyed ourselves. There are plenty of water/snack stops with fresh fruit and amazing snacks (ginger/nuts/cookies). They take very good care of you.

A Brilliant Trip

We have been on a couple of cycling trips before and this one was probably the best. Tri our guide was outstanding and all our fellow cyclists were a great bunch of people. We got a real flavour of life in Vietnam. Lots of interesting food. The meals were good and plentiful. Thought we would lose weight but didn't! Good Hotels. Many highlights but a couple or so to point out,Whale Island and Hoi An, the 30km exhilarating downhill ride and cycling in city centre traffic...... great fun but leaves your heart racing. It is quite full on which leaves you wanting to spend more time in some of the places visited. The usual pattern is arrive at 5 - 6 pm, leave at 7.15 next morning. However we did find time to swim in the hotel pools. Overnight train was great fun ....all part of the adventure. To cover the length of the country there are some longish times in the bus but the bus was comfortable but great chance to talk with your fellow travellers. This also gives you time to see more of the country and people watch. Staggered us how much could be piled on a scooter! The bikes were ideal for the road conditions as well as being clean and very well maintained. At the frequent refreshment/rest stops there was lots of juice, water, fruit, nuts and biscuits. The driver and bike mechanic were very friendly and very competent. Great organization, things happened when Tri said they would.

Good 'ole Exodus!

An interesting blend of Vietnam from north to south including an o/n sleeper train. The success and enjoyment of these trips is usually down to the blend of fellow travellers and team leader and this one was no different. The weather, early season, was mixed with a little more rain and cloud than hoped for but did not detract from the enjoyment but a little more sunshine would have enhanced the countryside. A read of the brochure and trip notes will give a very accurate picture of the breadth and variety of the trip. The daily riding distances are mainly governed by the fitness of the participants and their ability to cover the miles in a reasonable time and for the first time in my experience of 7 trips we were delayed by some participants who frankly were not cycling fit and I wonder if they had read and understood the pre - trip advice!
